    Hi Ivan,

UpdraftPlus backups are standard zip + SQL files. So, if you can’t restore through the admin, then you can instead restore the manual way: i.e. unzip the zip files and copy the files into the right places, and run the SQL through phpMyAdmin or any other SQL management tool.

    Best wishes,
    David

    Hi David,
    Thank you for the advice.

The issue is fixed! I only lost my favicon using the UpdraftPlus. It is excellent plugin!

    Regards,
    Ivan

Hello. I think I have a similar issue; I got a fatal error message while trying to update some plugins on my site. Same cryptic message also appears when I try to login to the admin panel. So I think i’ll need to restore an earlier backup the manual way. I’m a relative newbie to WordPress and have never done a manual backup before; can you refer me to some step by step guidance as to how to do this. For example, using David’s instructions above, where exactly do I copy the unzipped files? And how exactly do I run the SSL through phpMyAdmin (I’m not even sure what that means).

Thanks so much. By the way, my website is https://www.ethiopianfamilyfund.org.

    Thanks so much.
