I installed WC to see if I could use it on my client’s site. Quite horrified to see that it’s replaced the home page and broken all the pages. I can’t even edit any of them. I’ve uninstalled WC but everything is still broken! Is there a trick to fixing this (quick). I’ve put it in maintenance mode while I bang my head on the desk for not backing it up beforehand. I didn’t think a plugin could do that much damage.

    Thanks

  • Hi @lectronixuk,

    Thank you for reaching out.

It’s unusual for WooCommerce to cause such issues, as it’s designed to work seamlessly with WordPress. Normally, WooCommerce should not replace your homepage or break any pages.

However, this could either be due to an incompatibility with one of your plugins or theme. Let’s troubleshoot this further by following the steps below:

    1. Create a site backup as demonstrated here. It is a best practice to always have a backup before proceeding with installing or deactivating any plugins.
    2. Ensure that you have the latest versions of both WordPress and WooCommerce.
    3. Deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce to see if the issue persists. If it’s resolved, reactivate each plugin one by one to identify the conflicting plugin.
    4. Switch your theme to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-Four or Storefront. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with your theme.

Please try these steps and let us know how it goes.

    We’re here to help.
