I haven’t received any spam comments since March this year. In January and February alone I received not more than 20 spam comments. Now I want to reset the spam stat back to 0 (and I have my own reason of why I want to do that and the reason is not your concern) but I just don’t know how. I’m totally at lost now so can anybody help me here please?

I’m expecting a good and conclusive answer so please don’t reply to me with something like “why bother?”. Thank you in advance.

I’m pretty sure you don’t. IIRC, that stats data is stored on the Akismet servers.

But. If you’re dead set on it, try searching the DB for everything Akismet related. Disable the plugin, whack the DB settings, and pray you don’t shoot yourself in the foot.

And you know… I know you said ‘reasons of my own’ but the why DOES matter, because there MAY be other ways around it, depending on WHY you need this. If it’s because you’re being OCD/ABC, well, that may not be solvable, but if you need to hide things from a client, that’s something else.

Actually I still think it doesn’t matter to give or not to give the specific reason why I wanted to reset it. My point is, if any of you know something, just tell me and if you don’t know anything then don’t bother to reply. I’m only expecting as many solution as I could get, regardless the reason why I wanted it in the first place. Who knows one of the solutions I’d get here might solve my problem? Anyways I’m taking into consideration to whack the akismet setting in the db. Thanks anyways.

    Good luck then.

I really wish you’d reconsider, since right now you say you just want to whack the stats, but without knowing WHY, our ability to give you complete info is limited. Why matters. It’s always mattered. I’m sorry you can’t see past that but.

Anyway, if you CANNOT clean it with the DB, the only other thing I can think of would be to make a new Akismet API key for your account. Though you would need a different email for you. You may have to ask Akismet.com directly at this point, and I suspect they’ll want to know why (since it’s an extraordinary request, and they would want to know why so they can judge if this is something they need to account for in the future as a common and reasonable request or not).

Well, you can just give me whatever related info you have, if you really KNOW them, so “limited info” should be not an issue here. Anyways, somehow the trick of removing the plugin, clearing the Akismet setting in the DB and then registering a new Akismet account (and getting a new API) works, so I don’t need to tell Akismet anything now. Thanks for your idea.
