How to rename "category"?

  • I have a website which has news items daily –
    Is it possible to rename the “Category” slug?
    and if so how?

    There are permalink settings of
    /news/%post_id%/%postname%/
    and this work fine on posts
    but on the category ‘pages’ I get the following for example
    news/category/news/

    The duplication of “news” isn’t great but it is the word “category” that serves no seo purpose.

    Suggestions anyone?

    and it didn’t work…
