    Please could someone advise ??

I would like to remove access to the (sole, one & only) username listed – the one which I saw first when I got to the Askimet page.

I believe the initial developer has added his details. I see they are still there – because I just registered for Askimet and they gave me a wordpress.com login (I have an .org site).

So once I tried to put in the API key I discovered that old contact as the ‘primary user’.

How can I delete this email address without notifying the email owner?

Tried to find solutions on the internet; any responses here much appreciated ??

    Update:

Seems most of the issue is now resolved, not completely though: the old developer is showing as ‘author’ in the wordpress.com stats for some posts (when he has never authored anything).

And for reasons I don’t understand, my author name has replaced his for the most part.

This change took effect somehow when I activated the Askimet with my new wordpress.com details, finally resulting in my username replacing him as primary user for Jetpack.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

You can manage most of this by going to the Jetpack menu in your dashboard, and clicking on “My Jetpack” at the top of the page. Once the new admin (you) have linked your account to a WordPress.com account, you’ll be able to switch Jetpack ownership from one Jetpack Primary User (the initial developer) to your own account.

Once you’ve done so, I would suggest going to the Users menu in your dashboard and click on the number appearing in the Posts column, next to the initial developer’s username.
If there are no posts listed there, go to Pages menu and make sure they’re not listed as an author for one of your pages. If they’re still listed as author somewhere, make the authorship change thanks to the post and page edit options appearing at the top of the post or page list.

Once you’ve done so, you should be all set!

    I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your comprehensive feedback!

I have already managed to link to WordPress.com, and now I don’t see anything at all when I reach the ‘My Jetpack’ page.

That’s not an issue for me, but it is confusing to see his WordPress username still show up in the WordPress.com stats area as an author. He never was an author or user listed in my dashboard under pages or posts, at least as far as I know and also while I worked on this issue.

He is showing up as the author for most of my pages, as a sample e.g. in December stats (also checked some in Jan), although in my .org dashboard he is neither a user nor an author of anything.

Another point: I wasn’t showing up as an author at all on WordPress.com stats until I linked my account to it last week, so at least there are some changes, although I would prefer his username not to show up at all.

    Thank you again!
