How do I turn off WYSIWYG on category and product category description fields? It doesn’t have one with Rank Math disabled, so is there a code I can add to functions.php or a setting in Rank Math that lets me disable that?

    Hello @dawnrae,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support.

It isn’t possible to disable the WYSIWYG in the category description field when our plugin’s meta box is enabled. You will have to disabled the Add SEO Controls option for Categories and Product Categories in WP Dashboard > Rank Math SEO > Titles & Meta > Taxonomies to disable the WYSIWYG editor.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

If I disable that, would that mean I can’t customize the SEO using the Rank Math tools?

    Hello @dawnrae,

If you’re going to disable the SEO meta box on those taxonomies, then you may need to set the default title and description in Rank Math > Titles & Meta settings.

Also, if you prefer custom meta tags, you may need to use the filters on this link:

    Hope that helps.

@rankmathteam Why is Rankmath turning the taxonomy description into a TinyMCE editor at all? What does that have to do with SEO meta tags?

    Hello @lukeburrell,
    ?
Thank you for contacting Rank Math support.

Our plugin needs editor support to generate the SEO description preview in the snippet editor and run content analysis on it. That’s why we add the editor to the categories when you enable the SEO controls. You will have to disable the Add SEO Controls option for categories in the Titles & Meta settings of our plugin to remove the TinyMCE editor.
