How to remove user role of "none"

Please show screenshot with this message. Is it multisite or single WordPress installation. In case of multisite, what user do you try (single site administrator or superadmin?

Thank you for showing me that.
There is a bug here (my wrong assumption) which prevents to update users which are not displayed on the current page. I repeated this error successfully. I will try to find decision and develop the fix.

Please try version 4.12. The bug was fixed.

Didn’t work. It keeps saying that the current user needs edition privileges.

Bug was in related JavaScript code.
Please check that Users page is fully refreshed and does not use old JavaScript files from local browser cache or WordPress caching plugin or some CDN system if it is in use.
