• Since I don’t use it, this just gets in the way and I can see no way to move it like the other collapsible page segments.

    Thanks.

  • Welllllll…. probably requires hacking core….

    Beginning about line 1631 in the /wp-admin/admin-functions.php file, there’s a whole raft of upload-related stuff….

    Don’t do anything without good backups. I don’t know if this is the only file which needs hacking. I’ve never done this myself. If it borks your entire blog, don’t blame me.

    Did I remember to say…. BACK IT UP….

    vkaryl, I appreciate the suggestion but I’ve already tried that without success. That section handles uploads from the form AFAICT.

    Well, that was the only one I had. Sorry….

    Hmmm. There’s also an inline-uploading.php file, and the call for that is around line 220 in /wp-admin/edit-form-advanced.php.

    You could hide it with a simple change to wp-admin.css…

    Look for #uploading

    Delete or comment out the present contents and replace it with:

    #uploading {
    display: none;
    }

    Annoying upload section will no longer appear ??

    Whoa. I never even thought about that! Quick, elegant, harmless.

    Unfortunately this doesn’t work on my install. I do appreciate the constructive help though.

    Perfect, Les! Gonna start referring to you as “Master Q&D”….

    bill, why doesn’t it work on your install? Do you have some other specialized css in place?

    I’ve made no other changes to that CSS file or any of the admin files (or at least none that weren’t backed out) but just for the heck of it I deleted wp-admin and re-uploaded the folders, then tried changing the CSS again and it worked. Weird.

    Ah. Don’t you just LOVE gremlins? Well, I’m glad it worked finally, that’s your happy new year gift, right?

    Changes to css sometimes need a hard refresh or three before they’re visible…

    you need to empty your cache with CTRL + SHIFT + F5 ??
