hello mate, many thanks for for the quick reply and thanks for the links i used
after the child theme is active, edit showcase.php within your child theme and remove the full section beginning with:
<section class=”recent-posts”>
to:
</section><!– .recent-posts –>
both inclusive.

and it worked a treat! thank you very very much!!
