Yeah, Firebug is a terrific help with CSS. Looks like the border is from this code — both the box shadow and background:

.fslider {
    background: none repeat scroll 0 0 rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.4);
    border-radius: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
    box-shadow: 0 1px 4px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4);
    padding: 5px;
}

Be sure you are making changes in a child theme or custom CSS option or plug-in.
