How to remove Leave a reply

  • Hi all.

    I am using a very simple theme…but need to make some changes. Am a beginner at the moment.

    All I want to do is remove the no comments section ( below ) and the leave a reply section which is below that.

    No Comments ?
    RSS feed for comments on this post.

    And below that there is

    Leave a Reply
    Logged in as admin. Log out ?
    With the leave a reply box

    I deleted <? php comments_template(); ?> from single.php

    Did that on the local side – It removed the below section

    But did not remove the Leave a Reply section.

    And then I uploaded the single.php to the right place and it didnt remove it on the live website.

    So not to sure what else I can do to remove those sections.

  • Dashboard/pages/any page you don’t want the comment box to show/ top of the page/ screen options (it’s a little grey tab)/

    Un-check discussion and comments.

    Hey Shirazdrum,

    I tried that on my local side. It removed the

    No Comments ?
    RSS feed for comments on this post.

    But then I accessed the live side -> unchecked “Recent Comments” as there is no discussions and comments check box.

    It still shows on the live site.

    There is no content to the page, As im trying to find get the theme to work.

    Can you take a screen shot of the page and post it here? there’s no “recent comment” anywhere that i know of.

    Tried to copy and paste into this section but cant…no upload section.

    Will be back online in about 2 hours from now.

    Also using an older version of wordpress. 3.1.4 as the people who are hosting my website cant upgrade to php version 5.3 at the moment.

    Thanks so much to Shirazdrum,

    He told me to remove the below under each page – Near the bottom -> under discussions -> un check these…

    Allow comments.
    Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.

    And then I removed from the comments.php file

    <?php if (‘open’ == $post->comment_status) : ?>
    <!– If comments are open, but there are no comments. –>

    <?php else : // comments are closed ?>
    <!– If comments are closed. –>
    <p class=”nocomments”>Comments are closed.</p>

    And that seemed to work pretty nicely.
