Hi, I’m a complete beginner, hope someone can help me! I’ve followed a tutorial to create a customised footer. The last part was to add it to the hook content. Unfortunately, something went wrong and I cannot seem to find a way to fix it. I would like to delete the entire footer and start over – but I don’t know how I can do that! ?? I am not an IT person, only learning bit by bit, so I am unable to write any codes :((

Your help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Suggestions:

-Do you have a backup of your website files and database to restore your website to a time just prior to the footer customizations you started?

-Contact Themify-Ultra support to ask for guidance to customize footer and/or completely start over with a fresh copy of the theme:

    Hi Lisa,
Thank you for your reply. No, I don’t think I have a backup version :(. I have tried using the restoration points but it didn’t work out. Thank you for the links for the Themify-Ultra support, this will be very helpful for the future!

Is there anything else than using a backup to help me remove the hook? Thank you.

-I don’t really know the actions taken in your process to “add a hook” or how much additional customization you have already done for your theme. Did you modify a specific theme file?
-One way to start over is to reinstall a fresh copy of your theme — however, if any modifications were made to directly to theme files, they will be lost during the reinstall.
-Ask your webhosting vendor if they have a recent backup copy of your website available that can be used to restore – some webhosting vendors keep a few backups if you do not have one.
-Ask the theme’s specific support team for guidance to undo the changes to the footer or replace the themes footer file (if that is the most appropriate action). Volunteers on this forum do not have access to files for themes that have been purchased.

Hi Lisa, I appreciate your advice. My webhosting company has had a backup copy, luckily. I’ve lost a few days of work but at least, the previous footer is back to normal and I’ve learnt something new! Many thanks :).
