    Hello,
I just migrated a wordpress site off of go daddy for a friend although the dashboard still shows at the top a tab for godaddy. She was not pleased to find the person who built it for her just did a godaddy one when she was against them to begin with. And now that it is off of go daddy would like to have it removed o she dosent melt down when logging in thinking I actually didn’t move it off go daddy for her.

If it was GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress hosting, I believe that was added by a plugin.

Try deactivating all plugins. If it goes away, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

Well, there is only one plugin you can remove but GoDaddy will still stay in your dashboard.

    This solution works for me:
    0. first make a backup! :)))
    1. uninstall the GoDaddy-plugin
    2. remove the file /gd-config.php
    3. comment out or remove this line in the “wp-config.php”:
    require_once( dirname( __FILE__ ) . '/gd-config.php' );
    4. delete the directory “mu-plugins” (wp-content\mu-plugins)

    Good luck!

Thank you so much for this tip. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my admin dashboard still had the GoDaddy flush cache options, etc after moving from Managed WordPress hosting to VPS.

Kudos to you. Have a great one.

    Any time. ??

Great – I had an idea that these steps would work, but this post gave me the confidence to do them.
GoDaddy expunged – proper automatic updates resumed!

Indeed, sometimes following www.remarpro.com instructions can be a leap of faith. LOL

Thanks for this info. But, where is the file /gd-config.php located? Not sure where it lives.

Look directly into your WP installation folder. The same ebene with wp-config.php file etc.
