Hi. I made an embarrassing mistake with a redirection in htaccess. It lead to an extremely long url in the not found url lists.

Because it is so long, I cannot mark it as fixed. It just doesn’t fix when I try and the link is not removed.

Can I remove the link from the PHP table? If so, which one?

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

We would like some more information.

    1. Are you a Yoast SEO Premium user? If so, please send us an email: [email protected] that way we can respond faster with our premium support services. Be sure to provide a link back to this issue here.

    2. If not how did you create the redirection? Did you manually enter it in .htaccess?

    3. What happens exactly when you mouse over the URL in the SEO-Search Console and select Mark as Fixed? Do any warnings appear? We ask as the expected result is the URL should drop off from the screen.

Hi, Thank you for responding. I don’t have the exact error anymore, currently the working redirect looks like this. Previous, I think I had left off one of the slashes.

    Redirect 301 /pc /phase-calculator

In Yoast, the Search console, the URL, which I would normally be able to mark fixed, looks like this:

/pc/phase-calculator/phase-calculator/phase-calculator/phase-calculator/phase-calculator/phase-calculator/phase-calculator/phase-calculator/phase-calculator/phase-calculator/phase-calculator…. (this continues for many, many lines, maybe a 100 or more and ends with) .index.php

The Error Code is 414. The .htaccess error must have caused a loop of some kind to keep adding ‘phase-calculator’ to the url.

(I know I should splurge for the premium service, but it isn’t in the cards right now.)

Thank you for any help. I also have access to phpMyAdmin, if there is an entry I can remove that way.

    The website is https://scorpiomoonastrology.com/phase-calculator or

    https://scorpiomoonastrology.com/pc

Removing it from the database would only half solve the problem. A re-sync with Google Search Console would bring it back. These steps should remove it from both sides:

    1. Reset the authentication code with these steps to remove the current list of crawl errors in the Yoast Search Console.
    2. Go to Google Search Console crawl error report. Select your domain and mark the extremely long URLs as fixed.
    3. Connect Yoast to Google again with these steps to force our plugin to retrieve a fresh copy of the current crawl errors.
