How to remove duplicate image in first post

  • Hi,
    What I need:
    First full length post to show in original format
    Teasers to show with thumbnails with “read more” link

    When I set my theme settings > content archives to “display post excerpt” with no featured image the first post is perfect but the teasers don’t have thumbnails.

    When I set my theme settings > content archives to “display post excerpts” WITH featured image, the post teasers are perfect but I get 2 images showing in the first full post.

    How to I correct this?
