How to remove credit from footer?

none of these two methods worked for me. but i did some digging and found the footer details at file template-functions.php

but I am curious which part need to be removed so that nothing else breaks.

update.. when i added

  display: none;
}

PROUDLY POWERED BY WORDPRESS is removed. but not | THEME: AIRI BY ATHEMES
