• For unknown reasons, some users deleted old uploaded contributor photos when uploading new ones. Thus, the current versions of some of the posts have a new picture, but the archive has a blank. In a perfect world I’d dig up the old pictures, if I could, re-load them at the old url, and all would be well. But given there are a lot of them that is at least hard and maybe not possible.

In the interim, and maybe permanently, it would be a lot simpler to wipe out and then fully regenerate the existing archive from scratch. How do I do that?

This is not clear. Please provide links for the following:
    1. A “current version” of a post that has a new picture
    2. The “archive version” of the same post where the picture is blank

Sure. Problem is visible in archive by going to https://jotwell.com/2019/01/ and paging down to the post Uncovering the Hidden Administrative Judiciary dated Jan 28, 2019.

Compare to what you get if you click on the title, which leads you to the “original” at https://adlaw.jotwell.com/uncovering-the-hidden-administrative-judiciary/ (only it isn’t really the original any more, as wordpress has supplied the author’s new photo).

The URL for the missing pix is https://adlaw.jotwell.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Watts_Kathryn-sm-e1517253960987.jpg

I can provide a sadly long list of posts with similar issues if desired. As I said, my goal is to have the archive rebuilt with current versions of old posts, so that pictures are included.

Please let me know if anything else would be helpful.

One of two things is happening here.
    1. there is a caching plugin installed or CDN that is caching and serving up old versions of the archive. If so, simply purge or clear the cache.
    2. there is an excerpt being defined that includes a link to a non-existing image.
Check those two issues and see if it resolves the archive displaying different content than the post.

That helped. It is sort of #2. Although jotwell.com originally pulls pages via RSS feeds from its subsidiary pages on separate blogs (don’t ask why, we did this before Multi-site was stable), it makes a local copy e.g. at https://jotwell.com/uncovering-the-hidden-administrative-judiciary/ . That’s the one that I guess has the problem. So the problem is that the archive plugin is puling from Jotwell.com’s local copies of posts rather than the external ones that got updated, and is pointing to the old (external) picture which for unknown reasons got deleted. In other words, the broken image on “Uncovering the Hidden Administrative Judiciary”? (Jan 19, 2019) at? https://jotwell.com/2019/01/? ?is related to the broken image at?https://jotwell.com/uncovering-the-hidden-administrative-judiciary/ which hasn’t been updated to reflect the new version at?https://adlaw.jotwell.com/uncovering-the-hidden-administrative-judiciary/. Unfortunately this doesn’t suggest to me an easy mass fix… But thank you anyway.
