I’m the admin for a WordPress site, and I just received a MonsterInsights Summary email. These emails should be going to the site owner, who is also an admin user – presumably they are coming to me because I’m the site admin. I couldn’t find a place to enter the email address for the person to receive these reports. Where is it?

  • Also, how to completely disable the email summaries? When I follow the Unsubscribe link it takes me to the Dashboard->Advanced. But says Email summaries are supposed to be with Pro Version only. Not seeing a place to disable emails. I got a bunch of these emails over the last few days from all my client sites.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi @jberg1 and @syzygist

Sorry for the trouble here! We released a feature a little earlier than expected. We are in the process of creating a patch that will resolve this issue for you.

In the meantime, you can disable the email summaries within the MonsterInsights settings.

Insights ? Settings ? Advanced ? Email Summary.?

And toggling the option off, it will be visible within the settings for the free version.

@syzygist Currently the option to change the email address is not included within the lite (free) release.

Let me know if you run into any issues.
    Thanks,

The technical administrator for many sites is not the same person who manages content (and therefore SEO). Therefore paywalling the option to have the summaries sent to someone other than the site admin is a bad decision for site admins and for your company alike. Many admins – especially those who manage multiple sites and get deluged with multiple copies of the summary – will simply turn it off and/or mark it as spam if they aren’t able to direct it elsewhere in the plugin, and the person who would actually be making the payment decision for an upgrade will never see it. Is that what you want?

    Hi @syzygist,

I appreciate you for sharing your thoughts. I’ve forwarded it to our team for future consideration. If there’s anything further you’d like to add, please feel welcome to let me know.

    Thank you.

@syzygist, AGREED.. couldn’t have explained it better..

I just searched for the same exact thing, I’m just the developer, not the site owner, and I had to disable emails. I was actually searching for a different plugin to replace this one, because of the email issue.

Treebeard – I am going to have to start recommending a switch to my clients as well. Paywalling functionality so that the tech admin is harassed with irrelevant email is a very poor marketing strategy. I’m also pretty unimpressed that my query was marked as “resolved,” when it is no such thing. Giving plugin developers the ability to unilaterally decide when a support issue is resolved (regardless of whether the OP thinks so) just begs for abuse, and has rendered support statistics untrustworthy and therefore meaningless. But luckily, there are plenty of other analytics options to choose from.

@syzygist @jberg1 @malawimama indeed, it is unbelievable that they are doing this: (1) start mailing summaries without our permission and (2) using our admin email address via the domain name of the website to send those mails! That causes spam troubles.
