• A friend of mine had to delete his full database from within wordpress’ panel. He is new to wordpress so he doesn’t know if there exists a backup somewhere. Is there any backup or way to recover this database from the trash?

I don’t think that is possible. The db is on the server. Hopefully it is not deleted but if so there is a possibility that the host has a backup.

I agree, it seems pretty unlikely he nuked his DB from the back-end. Maybe deleted all his posts or pages, but I don’t think WP would let you delete DB tables. Regardless of the outcome, it’s a good time to tell him to install backWPup, and set it to email him a DB back-up to a gmail account everyday. And he might as well do a file system dump to a free drop-box account while he is in there. It’s not the most intuitive interface, but it’s hard to beat the functionality.

It would be nice if he could get back all the posts and pages back.

All posts and pages are in the database. Check with your host or sign into your hosted account and confirm a database is there. If not ask the host if they did any backups.
