how to re-configure httpd.conf or .access file for permalinks

  • Hi every one,
    i have changed permalinks settings from default (page id) to %postname%
    now 404 error occurs like (The requested URL /PHP/mercury/homepage/ was not found on this server.). My second site hosted on remote server is facing same problem .. can any body help me
