How to put Site Identity AND logo on header

WP4.8.1 on LocalHost with Enigma 3.3 Child.
Trying to put site identity and logo on header. Followed instructions in previous post “How to get site logo on par with site title?” which directed me to this link: https://pastebin.com/r1VUGFi2. I followed instructions and added the code to my Enigma Child Theme’s header.php. When I substituted it for the existing code I got a blank header. When I added it to the existing code I got two headers! Any ideas how I can get them side-by-side…on a single header?
