How to Properly Use the 404 Errors Tool?
-
Hi all,
I’ve been using this awesome tool for a long time, but can never find a helpful use-case for the 404 errors part of the tool. I clear out crawl errors in Google Search Console regularly, but the site I manage is pretty huge and the # of 404s that show up in this plugin’s 404 tool is totally unmanageable. It sometimes shows upwards of 13k 404s, most of which are clearly bots and don’t need to be redirected.
What is the recommended use-case for the 404 tool in the plugin? It seems impractical to wade through thousands of bot-created 404s just to get to a few legitimate ones, and most of the legit ones are caught by Search Console anyway. Not only that, but the results seem to refresh way too frequently, showing vastly different #s of 404s from day-to-day.
Would love to know how others are using this tool who manage large sites?
