• I have asked similar questions from this board yesterday but didn’t receive any reply. Perhaps, I didn’t explain my self clearly. I have been trying add some addcodes into my sidebars. I did change my sidebar.php file inserted the code. However, I am experiencing very unusual problem. My first post stretches and gets extra white space at the bottom every time I insert a code into my sidebars. In other words, the rest of my posts get shifted downwars if I add codes into my sidebar. Please help me to resolve it? Thank you very much

Where do you live? St. George, UT because I’ve been there many times.

40 miles north, up on the mountain….

Now, I just looked at your site. I’m seeing two google adblocks, one in each of the first two posts, in FF (version 1.5, btw).

I’m not seeing any ads in the sidebars, source isn’t showing them either, so guess you took them out?

    Vkaryl-

I couldn’t install any in sidebars because it was breaking my pages so I took them out. Yes I installed Adsense Deluxe Plugin but you said it’s version 1.5. Is there later version?

Nope, my FF version is 1.5 (sometimes knowing the version of a browser can be helpful for troubleshooting). I don’t know about the adsense plugin, I’ve never used it. I just stuff the adsense calls in where I want them.

One thing that *may* be causing problems for you is the fact that yours is a three column theme. Three col themes are iffier than “normal” with sidebar stuff, because there’s such a narrow maneuverability-window as far as the width of the side columns. The minute you exceed what the theme layout finds allowable as far as width in the side columns, the layout’s going to break.

’bout the only way to tweak that would be to find a full-width 3 col theme so you’d have a bit more space in the side columns to play with, width-wise. And one other possibility would be to do some major tweaks in the css to control the width of the ad displays.

I am totally ok width-wise. Let me try to explain the problem that I am having exactly.

Whenever I place ad codes for long banners into my sidebars, It automatically streches my post and leaving a lot of empty space between first post and the rest of my posts. I know it has it to with my 3 column theme but I can’t figure out the fix.

    Any ideas?

Well, not unless you can put it up on the blog so it’s “broken” so I can see it. Really hard to troubleshoot blind…. I need to be able to edit the css with the problem visible….

I don’t see any ad blocks. Using Opera 8.51 on XP.

I wish I could show you the broken blog but I can’t anymore because we’re receving very decent traffic and I am afraid our readers will get discouraged after seeing the broken pages. Please visualize it this way. If you visit our blog now you can see my first post is about teenagers. Eveytime I insert a code for Skyscraper ad in sidebars, there will be significant gap and white space between my first post and the second post which is about Obesity.

I can visualize it, but if I can’t see it in place so I can aardvark it while looking at the css, I won’t have any way of knowing just exactly which element of your setup is wonking it.

    Sorry….
