One of the things that attracted me to this plugin was this bullet point in your description:

Create a PDF or ePub file as a human-readable, portable backup.

After installing and going through the setup, I wound up with the “Print Page Ready” dialog box which contained only a button labeled “Print.” Nowhere did I find how to print to PDF.

    Can you please clarify?

    Thank you,

    Tod

[edited to add: I am working with WP 5.2.1 using Safari on an iPad, iOS version 12.3.1]

Hi @todindiana! Thanks for the feedback and question. ??

I’m making a FAQ and some videos to help folks creating PDFs. The trick is that you actually use your web browser (in your case, Safari) to create the PDF. So it depends on the browser.

But also: while Safari on iPad and iPhone CAN create PDFs, it unfortunately doesn’t do a great job at it: the PDF files don’t have pages (it’s just one really long page) and it includes content that should only be for when viewed online.

I’d recommend (and I’m putting this in the FAQ) you instead print with either Google Chrome (see https://youtu.be/ngId20fP5I8) or Firefox (see https://youtu.be/ekwg2a1FPV0). I’ll let you know when I’ve added the FAQ!

Actually, I just added the new FAQ “How do I create a PDF using Print My Blog?”.
Please let me know if you have more questions.

FYI I also added a link to that FAQ from within the plugin.

Hi Michael – many thanks for your replies. Your video tutorial for FF was pretty educational. Unfortunately for me, I do 90% of my digital work on an iPad and FF doesn’t yet support extensions so I’ll need to use our joint-use Mac.

    Best of success to you!

Ok thanks for the feedback there @todindiana. Good to know. I have thought about developing a paid service for converting sites into PDFs (there is a program called “Prince” which specializes in taking HTML websites and converting them into PDFs and eBooks, and an accompanying web service), but it may be tricky to develop and wouldn’t be free. Knowing your situations suggests to me there might be value in pursuing that, instead of only supporting generating PDFs using the browser/add-ons.

Anyways, if you wouldn’t mind giving the plugin a review, that would be much appreciated!
    Thanks again for your feedback.
