• I know it’s easy to create and test a page (draft mode) before publishing it for the first time.

However, how do you do this when you’re revising a page that’s already been posted?

I need a workaround for this because I’ve set up WordPress for a client who isn’t totally comfortable with editing their own site yet. Being able to preview an update before sharing it with the world would make me (and the client) feel better.

So far all I’ve figured out is to mark the page as draft, save and preview, then re-publish when it looks right. This takes the page off the site temporarily though — a pretty inelegant solution.

    Suggestions much appreciated!

  • Hmmm…in the Edit Page screen you can click the “Save and Continue Editing” button, which would essentially allow them to quickly scroll down the page, see what they’ve done, and change it before too many people would have a chance to see the page. But what you’re asking for isn’t core functionality, so unless you could find a plugin, no dice.

However, you could simply suggest to your client that they select all and copy it before saving a page, that way if they don’t like the changes they could just paste the old post back in.

Darned if I can recall where I read it, but I know that what clgannon is after is queued up for a future release. Possibly even 2.3(?).

Might be worth grabbing 2.3 from svn and having a look I reckon.
