how to prevent plugin from loading a new page after warning message?

    my add to cart button is in a pop up, and when someone adds to cart a product that is limited to 1 per category, the page reloads and goes to the woocommerce product page instead of staying on my popup which is on the homepage. how can i disable that from happening or instead just display the warning text below the add to cart button in my popup?
