How to preserve MS Word formatting in WordPress

  • How to preserve MS Word formatting of text (styles, colors, fonts, etc.), when writing new posts? I want to copy my text from ms word into text area (wysiwyg editor), but WP changes everything… ?? I know it was in previous versions of WP, but I need it in new version.

  • You can convert a Word document to HTML and use it, but I think this is a very bad idea. Word imposes a HUGE amount of formatting, which can make the file size of a simple web page enormous. You are much better off to save your Word document as plain text, and use CSS to format it. At least consider pasting your text into a page in a good WYSIWYG HTML editor, and formatting with that.

    When using the wysiwyg animal in WP you have a button named Pasting from Word. Use it.

    It doesn’t work. When I try to use button “Paste from Word” it has the same effect as I paste the text right in the form (all my word formatting is lost). What I want to do is that my blog authors could write a post by copying and pasting text from MS Word. We get material in Word files, so we have to preserve it’s formatting. Converting it to html takes too much time.

    Did anyone ever answer this question?

    thats the idea, and thats point of he paste from word button.

    theyre not compatible.

    Use a text editor like notepad to write the post and then format it with WordPress or use a weblog client:
