• I’m having trouble with placing image blocks where I want within a long text block.
I have a couple that finally did after the image block either jumping above or below the text block.

however the images aren’t exactly where I want them.

Trying to add a few more, same thing. The image blocks keep jumping before or after the text block. If it does stick in the text block, it won’t stay where I try to place it.

The layout I’m seeking is to have several images — aligned either right or left– with text wrapping around each.

using the media/text block doesn’t work this way – the text doesn’t wrap.

Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong would be appreciated.

    Thank you
    Lee

  • Hi @laurelee. It sounds like you are running into some problems related to image alignment & floating but it is hard to picture or to reproduce. Could you share a link to your site or to a screenshot to get a better idea of the issue you are describing?

    Hello Alvaro,
    Thank you for replying.

I don’t have a link as I’m working locally, can find the screenshots here:

see comments for issues noted below (to match issue with image)

I’m using the Neve theme using Guttenburg blocks. I’ve also tried to switch it to Guttenburg classic editor, didn’t work.

I am using the image block, setting the alignment to either right or left.
The text is in a parapgraph block.

If I use image/media block, the text doesn’t wrap (image attached)

I’m not sure how Guttenburg blocks should work in the sense of placement– (and haven’t been able to find information explaining this) if I can place them whereever I want within another block (paragraph bock in this case), or if it just defaults to putting itself where it wants in the flow.

Another issue is– even with the wrong layout in the editor, it renders very wrong (image attached).

    Thank you,
    Lee

Hi @laurelee I would suggest not using the Text & Image block but to add an image block and paragraph block separately. For example on my site I added an Image block then a Paragraph block, then I left-aligned the image and then reduced it’s size. This made the text wrap around the image, you can view this video for reference.

    thelmachido,
    Thank you for your reply.
I am using image and paragraph blocks that are separate from one another. The result is as I described. The images won’t always position next to the text in the paragraph box, and/or they do but won’t position where I’m trying to place them.

It would be easier to see from the actual site how the content on your site is being displayed. What is the name of the theme you are using on your site?

I apologize, I’m building locally so the site isn’t live. I’ve still not found how to make the images place where I want them next to text with the text wrapping properly.

I see, @laurelee I also noticed that you had already mentioned that you are using the Neve theme. On my test site currently using the Neve theme, adjusting the alignment of the image block and reducing the size makes the text wrap around the image as shown below:

I’m not quite sure why this isn’t working for you but can you temporarily disable all other plugins that are not Gutenberg?

Additionally, temporarily switch to the Twenty Twenty Three theme
