how to paginate the comments

  • hi i am not able to have 5 comments in one page.
    i used <?php paginate_comments_links(); ?> to paginate and i am getting the link as well. However i am getting all the comments. I also have checked the settings in dashboard->settings->discussion->Break comments into pages with 5 ….
    what would be the problem.
    wp version 3.7.1
