• I recently had a consultant from WordPress install the web-hosted platform on my web hosting service. I was trying to use several of the plugins but I saw that you need to have your “API key”. The documentation says that the API key would be emailed to me upon installation but I never did receive it. Also I know you can access your API key from your profile but mine is not listed in the area it is supposed to be providing.

Does anyone know how to obtain my API key?

I’m not sure if I have actually signed up from an account..Do I need to sign up for an account even if I have a blog up and running with WordPress?

you get your key from signing up at wordpress.com

Just like if you want to use the Google api, or the Amazon api, or ebay’s api (they all require “sign-ups”) – you need to sign up at wordpress.com to get an API key for their “toys”.
