    Hello,

I don’t understand why translations are automatically created, for some plugins, in the system folder. (see here : https://imgur.com/df7M7Ow)

These translations don’t even match the template.

I delete them, the system recreates them automatically…

Is there a way to stop this from happening? I would like to have only one translation, either in the custom folder (when I make changes), or in the author folder

    Thank you

The “System” file is installed by WordPress automatically, and its fine to have both, if you are overriding translations. See documentation on file locations.

If you want to customize the installed translations, then follow the guide here to do it properly:?https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/custom-translations

    Hello,
Thank you for your answer. But I think you didn’t understand my question.
I know what you’re telling me. But on the contrary I would like to delete the translations in the system folder (not only do they not match the template, but they are also useless… since I already have either the custom translations or the author’s). And I can’t do it…

If you don’t want to use any of the automatically installed GlotPress translations, then you must configure WordPress to stop installing them. This is not controlled by my plugin.

This is simply a matter of which source you trust the most. Either can contain errors, and I think in this case both probably do.

You say the template doesn’t match, but the numbers are misleading as to how much it’s off. The 6 636 count you see in the System PO file does’t match the POT count of 12 401 because it doesn’t include script translations held in JSON files, which GlotPress deliberately, and very annoyingly removes from the PO.

If you were to copy the System file as per my guide instead of using the woocommerce.pot template, the new PO would pull in all the extra script translations and you would actually get 12 595 strings. Establishing truly which source of strings is the most accurate is not simple.

    Thanks.
    I’ll take a closer look.
