Thanks for reaching out here. We are sorry to hear that you’re having trouble moving the meta box to a different place. Please, perform the following steps to move the Yoast SEO meta box:

    • When editing a post or page, and you click on the three dots on the upper right-hand side and go to ‘Preferences’ and go to ‘Panels’ and set the toggle to OFF for Yoast SEO, it should disable the Yoast SEO section in the Gutenberg sidebar.
    • If you also click on the three dots on the upper right-hand side and go to the Plugins menu, you can disable the Yoast SEO Premium section and it should disable the Yoast SEO meta box in the sidebar.
    • The Yoast SEO meta box should still appear at the bottom of the content of the page, where you can edit and make modifications.
    • We’ve attached a Loom video that highlights where these settings are in Gutenberg if you would like to apply this to your editing workflow – https://www.loom.com/share/a68b701efada40d1b6b28a458d08db57

Let us know whether the issue persists after performing the above steps.

    Thank you for your reply.

Follow your prompts, “Yoast SEO” disappeared in the panel, but did not appear at the bottom.

In addition, why are there two “Yoast SEO” (see screenshot 3)

I’ve updated to Yoast SEO 16.6.

The question is, is it related to updates? Would you be more serious

    Thanks!

The first screenshot you shared showed you are running a very outdated version of the plugin. As you may have noticed after updating, the Yoast SEO metabox is now different.

Getting back to the issue you are experiencing, that is, the Yoast SEO meta box moved from under the default WordPress content editor to the sidebar and you want to move it back, there is a reported issue with the Gutenberg where the meta boxes under the content can be pushed to the sidebar, sometimes accidentally. In short, the under content and sidebar list of boxes appear to be a single list.

Luckily, you can drag and drop the meta boxes between the sidebar and under the content. Additionally, you can use the up/down arrows to move between the sidebar and under content areas. In some cases, you may need to have at least one meta box available to move the boxes between the two areas. See screenshot.

    See below for more details):
    1. Make sure you are in the correct sidebar. The gear icon (1) should be selected and you should be in the ‘Document’ (2) section.
    2. Make sure you move the correct panel. The top ‘Yoast SEO’ (3) panel cannot be moved. Scroll down and look for the second ‘Yoast SEO’ (4) with the up/down arrows.
    3. If the ‘up’ arrow is gray, enable the ‘Custom fields’ or another meta box. You can do this under the kebab (three-dot) menu (5) > Options.
    4. Be patient. It may take a little trial and error to determine which option works best for you.

    Thank you for your reply!

After “Custom fields” is allowed, “Yoast SEO” can be moved from the right panel to the bottom. However, after entering the editor page again, it will return to its original state, and the bottom area will only be “Custom fields”. How to save it?

    Look forward to your reply

    Hi @hihhh888888

While we’re not exactly sure why the settings weren’t saved for the Yoast SEO meta box, given that this is a Gutenberg issue, we recommend that you subscribe to the GitHub issue here for updates on the issue as well as potential workarounds – https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/7960
