I accidentally installed WP (via 1-click install provided by my hosting provider) in its own sub directory under /public_html called wp. I configured the site and added content.
When I try to publish, my browser will not display the website.
I understand now that best practice is to install WP in the root directory /public_html, so my question is: how to I move the installation to the root after I have now installed it in its own directory?

I’ve seen the Giving WordPress its own directory section, but I guess I need to opposite action.

Meanwhile I found this video on YouTube which describes this very situation.
According to this, the solution is simply:
    1. In WP admin go to Settings and update the two directory settings to the root directory
    2. Copy all files from the WP sub directory to the root
    3. Rename (or delete) the WP sub directory

I am trying this out right now… ??
