• Hi All

I have just read this great blog on how to move a wordpress site.

However I have a bit of a head scratcher I need to move a site that is part of a multisite. The theme I feel will be quite easy but the database is a bit tricky as I am guessing the database including the plugins will be for the whole multisites as I think there are many sites with in this muiltisite instal.

Am I right in thinking this or should it work the same as any wordpress site move?

Second question would I need to know all the WP admin login details to access it on the new hosting as a stand alone site?

many thanks for your time in reading this.

    Hi Esmi
I think my concern is I only want to move one of the sites to a new host and not the whole multisite instal as this is owned by someone else and don’t think they would want me to have access to there full site.

When a site sits within a multisites can it be moved as a single instal site.

Sorry question questions. Would have been so much easier if it was a single instal site!

    Thanks

Oh boy! Moving just one site from a multisite network isn’t possible, as far as I am aware. The best solution I can think of is to install WP on the new host, export the content of the old single site using Tools->Export (do ensure that you export all attachments) and then import the resulting .xml file into the new site. That will still leave you with the theme, plugins and any custom menus to set up but I think it’s about the only way you can do this.

    Hi Esmi

Feared this could be an issue!!

Looks like along slog, may put this to the bottom of my ‘to do list’!

    Thanks for your help.
