how to move ?\ . . . /makeover? tp front?

I have just completed a makeover of an old site. The new site is at domainname.com/makeover/.

What are the steps to remove the old site and then make the makeover visible as /domainname.com/

Please note, I am very much a step-by-step guy with a limited imagination. and a response in that incremental structure will be understood much better than “simply blah-blah the framistany.”
