How to Modify Displayed Dates for Job Listings?
-
Good afternoon, and thank you in advance for any support you can provide!
I have been using WP Job Manager for nearly a year and couldn’t be happier with the plugin! I am hoping it’s possible to make a modification to how the job search results display, though.
Short Version: I want the displayed date to be something other than the publish date.
Long Version: I recently purchased the e-mail alerts add-on for WP Job Manager. I’ve discovered that the add-on sends out alerts based on the publish date. This is problematic, because I find job listings on other websites (e.g., CraigsList, Indeed, etc.) and I set the publish date on my website to reflect the ORIGINAL post date of the job listing. For example, if I find a job listing on CraigsList that was posted 3 days ago, I backdate the publish date on WordPress for 3 days ago. This gives visitors an accurate picture of how old the job listing really is; HOWEVER, this means the e-mail alerts add-on will NOT catch the new job listing, as it doesn’t look “new” on WordPress (not published within the past 24 hours).
I’m thinking that I would need to create a separate field (or modify an existing field) so that when users on my site search for job listings, they’ll see the ORIGINAL post date; however, the e-mail alert add-on will see the PUBLISH date on the back end and catch the new job listing. I’m not sure how best to accomplish this. I suppose I could 1) create another column in the WP Job Manager result section; or 2) create another field on the “Add Job” page so that I can somehow select two dates (the ORIGINAL date and the publish date). I wouldn’t know where to begin with coding, though.
I have already contacted the creators of the e-mail alert add-on, and they said their developers can’t modify the add-on. They encouraged me to hire a developer to modify the add-on for my site’s purposes. I’ve contacted developers on other sites, and they seem uncertain about their ability to modify the add-on as well. So it seems like the best approach would be to modify WP Job Manager itself and how it displays dates for search results.
Once again, thank you for any support you can provide!
