Hello! What’s the best way to add a new subscriber?

I launched my blogsite August 1, and people started to subscribe, but I heard one issue after another! Most people just didn’t respond to the CONFIRM e-mail in time. If they tried to subscribe again, they received a notice on the subscriber widget that said they were already subscribed, and that they needed to go to WordPress.com. Unfortunately, when they got over there, they were pushed into a web interface which tries to get them to start a blog! They got frustrated and quit.

So, how can I manually add them to my list of e-mail subscribers?
Should I just INVITE them? If so, should I choose Subscriber or Follower, if I don’t want them to have to set up a WordPress.com account?

    Thanks!

Hi there – They need to clear their browser cache and try again. The browser has their email stored on the site as being subscribed even though they are not. Please ask them to do that and then see if it makes any difference.

    Good idea.

Also, if I just invite them, do I use Subscriber or Follower? I can’t tell the difference.

I am wondering, however, if I should just get rid of Jetpack altogether and try some other Subscription plugin. Any recommendations?

    Thanks!

You’ll want to invite them as subscribers. Followers would be users following you via their WordPress.com account.

It’s, of course, up to you to use another plugin but bear in mind that Jetpack is much more than that:
