How to manage files on my server?

  • It seems in WP, media files are listed in one folder accessible by the “media” page or by going to that “wp-content” folder on my server.

    So, how do you guys/gals keep your server organized? Do you upload/organize the files on your server first? Or do you throw everything in one folder and organize it through WP?

    I let WordPress handle it. WordPress’s uploader places the files in the following directory structure: /wp-content/uploads/year/month/image.whatever
