    Hello

I need to know if there’s a way to make UPC multilingual? I’m not referring to multilingual gui (this is natively supported through the .mo files) but to be able to make a different version of content for different languages, while preserving images. Is this possible? I was thinking about duplicating catalogue instance for each language but there isn’t an option for duplicating instance within the UPC editing gui, and I’m also not sure if making duplicated instance would be the best practice. Any sort of advice is more then welcome. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi geter,

All of the strings and static labels in our plugin are localized, so they should be picked up by translation files (.mo/.po) and multilingual plugins. Based on user feedback and testing we’ve done, we recommend setting up a separate catalogue as well as a separate set of products, categories, tags, custom fields, etc. for each language. This is because our catalog is not a custom post type and so you will most likely not be able to create a direct translation for each product, category, etc. using your language plugin. By creating a separate set of everything, you have full control over the wording of everything. Then you can create two linked pages using your language plugin and put your catalogue shortcodes on those pages.
