• I’m getting this notice in my theme editor

“If this file were writable you could edit it.”

How can I make my theme editor files writeable so I can modify my theme? I used to be able to do this, but I just moved hosts and now it won’t let me? Is this a chmod issue? If so, what files do I change chmod on?

  • Yes, it is a chmod issue. You will have to modify the permission on the files you want to edit – usually 666 will do it.
WARNING! After editing change back the permissions, otherwise your blog will be vulnerable (open to hackers!).
My advice is always: do not edit online. Edit your files on your machine and upload the modified files.

What, ther is no other way? I would give a suggestion and make it so that you can plug in your ftp info into teh system and then the system automatily updates when you click edit. then it will stop ppl from askin about this and stop ppl form getting hacked.
