How to make the optin a popup, instead of static chunk of page?

    I see how to place the <?php echo do_shortcode(‘[optinform]’);?> at different parts of my page within my theme (I’m using ResponsiveBoat, not sure if that’s relevant.)

    I want the signup form to appear after a “sign up now” button is clicked instead of always being displayed. How do I make this happen? thanks!!!!
