    Hi Greg,

Is there a way to make the first image in an advert the main image which is shown on the category pages instead of the last image?

There’s a disconnect between what you see on a category page and then what you see when you click on an ad since the ad shows the first image. Also, whenever I post ads I always upload the main image first, then supporting images.

Also, when editing an image to make it the main one, the button says “Update Description” but that button updates the main image, title and description so just “Update” would be OK – it’s a bit confusing the first time.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
    1. after uploading an image you can edit it and make it featured, then the image will be used on the Ads list.

    2. i think you are correct, i will look into it, but right now i cannot tell if i will be changing this phrase or not in next release.

If you want to have it changed you can use a plugin like Say What? to customize this phrase on your site without modifying original WPAdverts files.

    Hi Greg,

Yes, a user can edit the image to make it featured, but that’s really not the answer I’m looking for – here’s why:

When creating an advert there’s no indication which image is the featured image – its fair to assume it will be the first one. After completing the ad and viewing it, the first image is shown as the main image as expected.

A customer will rightly assume that’s the image which everyone else will be seeing in the category listing, except it isn’t. To make it consistent they then need to edit their ad, work out how to make the image featured and then save it again.

Quite frustrating, just to get the same image to display in the category listing and the advert.

Your software is fantastic and your support is amazing which is why I’ve had no hesitation to buy the full extension pack. But I’m going to be competing with other marketplaces and classifieds sites and mine needs to be so easy to use that my customers don’t have to think about it.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
i do agree it should work like that, in fact, there is already a ticket on GitHub related to this issue https://github.com/simpliko/wpadverts/issues/44.

It will be resolved in version 1.2.1 which will be released this month.
