    I’m very new to WordPress.
    Under Appearance –> Editor –>then header.php

I tried to edit php file but couldn’t. In fact all the php files have this: At bottom of coding window it says “You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the
    Codex for more information
    ”.

I clicked on the Codex link and the information it provided is very confusing. (I don’t understand!)

Can you provide a simpler explanation how to use Codex to make a php file “editable” / “writeable”. Step by step instruction, if possible, would be great.
