• Hi,

I’m trying to figure out how to create new blog posts to appear as new posts (as they do on my home page) onto my other pages/categories. Currently it is set up that if I upload content to a page or category it doesn’t allow me to add tags and means I will basically have one long continuous write up of different posts separated by spacing and not by individual posts.

E.g. under my page titles “interviews” I have had to create separate categories for the different interviews to avoid uploading all of the interviews onto one long continuous page. What I would prefer (instead of having a super long list of categories) is when clicking on “interviews” that it takes me to a page that acts like my home page does with the various separate posts that when clicked on take me to that interview post.

I might not be explaining myself properly but here is my blog site if anyone can help please:

    Thanks in advance

    ;p

  • You want to show excerpts instead of the full post, from your description.

Here is a step by step that may be easier than using the codex:

No I want to show the full posts as it does on my home page but on my other pages, in order to upload to different write ups, I have to keep entering the same post draft to upload the text – it doesn’t allow me to add brand new posts to one page.

ps – thanks for your suggestion though ;p

Right now you have a page called interviews with many other child pages.

If you create a new category called interviews

And make all your interviews as posts instead of pages and assign them all with the category of interviews

then create a menu item with that category. (instead of a page)

It would work like your home page.

Thanks Janet4now – however, if I do it step by step as you described below – it still puts the post onto my home page (along with all my style diaries) and does not put it under the ‘Interviews’ Menu page – I would like it to only appear on the ‘Interviews’ page but ACT like a home page (in addition to still keeping my home page as it is) whereby I can post new posts to ‘Interviews’ instead of having a drop down list listing all the interviews in tab format ;p

You can change what categories appear on your home page as well.

    Same method.

Thank Janet – I still don’t think I am explaining myself properly as I don’t want to change the way my home page is, I just want my Interviews page to act like my home page does. Thanks for all the advice though ;p

Does anyone else have any suggestions?
