• Hi,

I’m working with Gutenberg and have just changed the theme width and main column width to make both wider, and changed the percentage of primary (content) vs. secondary (sidebar) to make the main content wider. Now, one issue becomes more obvious: there is a preset image size for the main content area that seems to be narrower than the main column.

How can I change the dynamic image size to always resize to the width of the main content?
And, in Gutenberg image block settings, what settings do I have to choose?

    Thanks

    Nicole

Same issue with embeds. So basically the reason why I made the main content width larger, to display images and embeds larger, does not work.

    How can I change that?

As far as I recall, this must have something to do with Twenty Seventeen taking over the sizing of all images, also WooCommerce product images, for example. So the settings for image sizes have completely disappeared from the customizer.

Question is, why does Twenty Seventeen not do the most straightforward thing: dynamically size images to the width of the content or column???

In the blog overview, the images are resized to the content width, pulling the “post thumbnail” and displaying it in “max-width=100%”.

Cross-check single post on blog: When I insert an image with the Gutenberg image block in a post with source type full, no particular settings, then the image is resized to content width, which is 740px in one column. So that is working.

Single lesson in LearnDash: But when I do the same in a LearnDash lesson, inserting an image of more than 3000px width, set it to source type full, no particular settings, then in the lesson the image is displayed in a width of 580px. I would have to use wide images in Gutenberg to make it larger; but that I cannot use with the course navigation in the sidebar.

The Twenty Seventeen theme is becoming the biggest time waster in a long time.

Problem solved – by changing the theme.
