I am trying to get Adsense Approval and got this request:

    “Domain ownership:
We have reviewed your application and confirmed the quality of your site. In the final approval of your application, we need to confirm that you the domain shopforskincare.com / ownership .
Please you shopforskincare.com/ root directory to create a Web page shopforskincare.com//adsense.txt , and copy the following text to the page:
“I Higgins statement confirming my ownership of the Ben Wang domain, while recognizing that the site comply with Google AdSense program policies and terms.”

It’s translated from Chinese because I live in China.

Firstly, how do I access the Root Directory and then hwo to do as they ask?

If any one can help I’ll be glad to do almost anything in return. I’ve been trying to get Adsense for a long time.

First, use a plain text editor to create a file called “adsense.txt” with the content “I Higgins statement confirming my ownership of the Ben Wang domain, while recognizing that the site comply with Google AdSense program policies and terms.” Then, access your server via FTP or SFTP and upload the file to the root directory.

    Hi Macmanx,

    Thanks.

I got the FTP connected. How do I find Root Directory on FTP? Can’t find anything with “root”.

The term ‘root’, in this instance, is slang for your ‘home’ directory.

True root is the top level folder (like on your PC C:\ is root) of your server. You don’t actually want to put the file there ?? You want something like /home/ersl/public_html/ That public_html folder is your ‘web root’ and THAT is where you want the file to go ??

Where it actually is on your server I can’t tell you. Your host should be able to tell you where your web root is, though, if you don’t see a public_html folder.

    Hi,

    Thanks!

I am an English teacher and when I read that ‘root’ is slang I had a laugh because of the amount of ‘slang’ that exists makes it very difficult to teach non native speakers English that they can understand. ‘Root’ would be nomenclature or specialised language within programming culture. I’m still laughing. Thank you for demystifying the term.

Yes, I know the public_html folder, and I will add that term to my ‘glossary of terms’.

Anything I can do for you please let me know. I mean that.

    Best wishes and thanks!
