Hi, I am curious to know how one makes a “page” type of custom post. Do I just type a value of “page” in the “Capability Type” field? I can’t find any documentation on this (either for the different kinds of available post types or for what the Capability Type field does).

What I’m after are more like pages as opposed to posts, though I don’t know how much difference it will make in the grand scheme…

    Thanks!

    Hi @xroox

I’m going to go on a hunch that the primary “page”-like functionality you’re wanting is the ability to set parent/child hierarchy. Does that sound about right?

If yes, then you just need to set the “hierarchical” dropdown to true.

Very similar situation to taxonomies and wanting the checkbox version vs the typed in version. Setting a taxonomy as hierarchical gets the checkbox version like categories get, vs the typed in input like tags.

Chances are you’re going to want to leave the capability type as “post” unless you really know what you’re doing with this detail. “post” is more than enough 99% of the time.
