How to look like "Tidy" theme example
-
Where are Tidy theme instructions to make my site look like the example shown on WP? I want the blue bar to appear above the merit boxes instead of at the bottom of the screen. I want to place a static graphic, larger than the blue bar, on top of the blue bar to the right of the white words.
I added the “GMO Showtime” plugin, but that only gave me a slider where the slide showed up within the bar height, not larger. I added one slide and then deactivated the plugin.
My site is energist.us
Thank you!

@456789, please allow us some time to investigate this issue. We’ll update you with information once we have the solution. Thanks.
Thank you, WP Shop byGMO. I certainly appreciate the help!
Hi again. These are the numbers for recommended image size for this slider. Maybe the image you inserted was too small.
730x487px for horizontal layout
1200x487px for photo with overlapping textPlease try using the exact size image(s) and try again. It should work correctly. Thanks!
Hi. Thank you for responding. Instruction needed, please.
I used “Footer 4” with a text box. I put HTML in the text box and that caused my graphic to appear on the blue bar to the right of the words.
(a) The graphic does not extend above and below the blue bar as shown in the picture of this theme on WP, even using the px listings in your note above.
(b) I want that blue bar (with the white words) to move from the bottom of the screen to where the slider shows up when the slider plug-in is used. That would match the picture. (The slider plug-in is not the right solution for my issue for at least 3 reasons. I tried and deactivated it.)My goal is to have my site look like the picture of the theme that appears on WP.
Thank you. https://www.energist.us
In fact, you won’t be using the footer widgets to set up the slider. Will you please check to see if you followed the instruction below?
1. Reactivate the GMO Slideshow plugin.
2. When plugin is activated, you will see the option called “Carousel” on the dashboard left nav. This is where you will be adding slider image(s) as well as text. Upload images as “Featured Image”.
3. From your Dashboard left nav, go to Settings>GMO Showtime.
4. Choose “Left” from the Text Position pull down menu.
5. Make sure the maintenance mode check box is unchecked. (It is checked in default)
6. Press “Save Changes”.Hopefully it works. Please let us know if have any issues. Thanks.
Thank you very much. Very much. Instruction #4 was my problem. I had chosen “top-left” when trying to make the slider work. I had done all those steps repeatedly, plus many others, (except changing #4) for long-houred days. My “footer widget” is the only way I can get the writing I want to fully appear. I know the footer isn’t the solution, but I left the words there so you can see what I’m wanting to have appear.
I now have 4 last issues and I should be independent.
(1) Just as in the WP example (the picture of the “Tidy” theme), I want a line beneath the title and the smaller-fonted words to appear. The Carousel allowed me to make a title only. How do I get the line and smaller words to appear?
(2) Which slider setting allows the words to stay static and does not use a fade or another kind of wipe?
(3) There is an instruction I didn’t follow. On the GMO Showtime screen, I am instructed to add Showtime code as part of the setup. There is no instruction as to where that code should go. Maybe that’s the reason “(1)” doesn’t work. Please tell me where to insert that code.
(4) For “slide links” on the Carousel menu, if I ever make a slide show, would I put a page link there or would I put the links to various slides? Is this sort of a way to make a “gallery”?Thank you again. Effusive and over-the-top thanks.
https://www.energist.usGood to know that your got your slider working! Here are our answers for your questions.
(1) You simply want to type your text in the “Excerpt” area in the Edit Carousel window. Then press update. The white line you mentioned is not available in the slider text area. (As you can see on our screenshot on www.remarpro.com theme download page.)
(2) Since this is a “Slider”, it is designed to be used with multiple images. This is why the text blinks, and unfortunately there is no immediate solution for this issue. So what we can suggest is to use at least two images.
(3) You can completely ignore this part with your Tidy theme since it is already pre-coded. (Sorry, it wasn’t clearly mentioned)
(4) Slide link works just like the text hyperlinks. Enabling this function adds a link to the slider and make it clickable. You can add any URL including 3rd party websites.
Thanks! I’m glad, too!
(1) Yep. My error on thinking the line was there. Apologies. I can also see that this makes a paragraph and there’s no way to do several short lines. I just made an assumption I could force that and I can’t. Yes, now this looks like the www.remarpro.com theme download page. Thank you again!
(2) OK.
(3) OK. Good.
(4) Oh. Good feature. Thanks for explaining it.
I appreciate your prompt and full responses. And, your friendliness.
I’m most grateful.Awesome. Thanks for your update!
Hello — I know the example shows that the title of a page appears on the front screen. I really don’t want that title to appear. Is there a workaround so blank space appears beneath the Merit Boxes instead of a title?
Thanks for your help!
energist.usHi, if you are referring to the merit box title and you want to only show the merit boxes (icons), simply remove title and text blank from the “Merit Box Settings”, then press “Save Changes”.
Same thing with all the front page titles. All you need to do is just remove the text from the theme options.Thank you, but no, this isn’t about the Merit Boxes. This is about the word “Hello” I have showing up on the first page of energist.us … I want “Hello” to show up in the top header menu so people can return to the front page. I don’t want the word “Hello” to appear on my first page, though.
I didn’t see the place to “remove the text from the theme options” you mentioned above. I’ve tried lots of things; I’d be glad to try that if you can be a little more specific about which menu in theme options to go to.
Thank you.Alright, now I know which one you are talking about.
From the dashboard, go to Appearance>Theme Options. Click on a “Layout Settings” tab, then you want to click on the “All Blog” tab. You should see a menu called “Archive Title” with “Hello” in it. Please try removing that text and click “Save Changes” on bottom right.Just for your additional info, each tab have a title area where you can edit title and icon to suit your own preference. If you wish not to show, simply remove the text. Hope it helps.
“Hello!” was not in the “Archive Title” area. “Wisdom and Babble” was; that is the name of my blog page. “Hello!” is the name of my static front page. I do not want the static front page to have a blog. I might not want a blog at all on this site. I’m apparently not explaining this well. So sorry.
This may be clearer: Where “Blog” appears on your WP template example beneath the Merit Boxes, I want no word at all to appear and yet I want “Blog” to show up in the menu bar.
I apologize for any confusion.
No worries. Looks like you have created a statics front page with title in it. I was able to successfully remove title by just removing the page title from the edit post page. In case you haven’t tried it yet, look for a page titled “Hello!” and try removing the title.
