I noticed you can lock a backup (prevent from being deleted after reaching the given amount of backups) when you create it, but could not find how to lock this way, an already created backup.

    Hello,

Unfortunately this cannot be achieved retrospectively and the only way to “lock” the backup is before it is created using the “Only allow this backup to be deleted manually (i.e. keep it even if retention limits are hit)” checkbox on the Backup / Restore >> Backup Now popup box.

I see, however how does the lock status apply? Is it on the database or in the file name? Can we manually lock a backup working with the database?

To lock an already created backup (assuming you have the relevant extension installed), double-click on the backup’s date/time in the “Existing Backups” list, and check the checkbox in the dialog that appears.

Locking the backup means that UpdraftPlus won’t delete it in response to your configured retention settings (but you can still delete it manually).

Hi @davidanderson, are you amending what stated by @pbevanudp? I tried this and the popup opens, I don’t think I have additional plug-ins or extensions, what do you exactly mean with “assuming you have the relevant extension installed” I think and “Edit” link while hovering over the backup entry would help understand this is possible.

What is meant by the additional plugins or extensions is the add ons that you can purchase.

Well its weird, cause I can actually lock a backpu doing what you said, and I’m quite sure I don’t have extra plug-ins (paid) installed on this website. if I do so and refresh the page, the lock icon is added to the backup, I can do the same to unlock it as well.

Double click the date of backup, tick the check button – it is done the backup will not be deleted –
