  • Can you post a link demonstrating this?

I think he wants to add link to images that when a visitor moves mouse over the image, he can click on it and he goes to i.e homepage of website while he is watching the image. For example the HTML code of what he means is this:
    <a href="https://www.example.com"><img src=".../image.jpg" "></a>

Is there a way to link all images to their post URL?

Yes, dashboard>media>image library. Pick the image, go to edit and change the permalink to that of the post.

This way gives access to the entire url and is easier.
Edit post, click on image. You will get a button for edit image. Click on that and then you can assign the post’s url.

@kmessinger thats great but i have over 4,000 images.

Let me explain myself better for those who asked.

If someone shares my link in a forum lets say:

    https://example.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/example.jpg

When someone clicks on that link I want them to be directed to the post not the actual image, for example:

    https://example.com/the-post-the-picture-is-on

If you do that then your post will lose the image. The image link cannot be redirected.
